Having vein disease isn’t something that anybody wants to brag about or even talk much about for that matter. However, as a condition that affects about 30 million Americans on average, it’s safe to say that if you do have it, you’re not alone. If you suffer from common venous reflux symptoms like swelling, throbbing, and pain, you may feel at a loss for what you can do. What Causes Venous Reflux Disease?

The biggest thing that you may want to know about your venous reflux disease is how on earth it’s caused. To start out, your genetics may play a large roll in your development this disease. If you have a family history of vein disease and you now have it, you can thank everyone in your family tree for this lovely disease. In addition to genetics, though, there’s a strong connection between vein disease and people who stand a lot for a living. If you are in a profession in which you are on your feet all day and you have vein disease, it may be one of the causes.

FAQ: Do I Have to Treat My Veins?

The short answer to this question is “no,” and the longer answer is that it varies from patient to patient. Some patients can spend their whole life without experiencing worsening symptoms and won’t ever have to have them treated. For the most part, however, patients with vein disease experience some amount of worsening symptoms that should be professionally treated at our office.

 

FAQ: Are Veins Always Visible?

For some people, their veins may be extremely obvious but for other people, they may not be. Typically, patients veins won’t be as prominent in the early stages but as their symptoms worsen, that’s when they become more visible.
