If your varicose veins are starting to get worse, are causing you grief, or you just realize that it’s time to do something about them, you have a variety of treatment options to choose from. However, as one of the first and easiest ways we recommend for our patient to use to get rid of your varicose veins, compression stockings are a must. By increasing the circulation of blood flow throughout your legs, compression stockings can be a real life saver. To help you find compression stockings that will do the trick, we have created a brief guide listing some things to look for. Read on to learn more.
Depending on your height and the location of your varicose veins, will help you to determine the length of stockings you need. For instance, if your varicose veins only run about halfway up your leg and you are petite, then you just need a medium length sock. Whereas if you’re tall and have varicose veins that run up and around your knees, you may need an extra-long knee sock.
Listed on the back of every compression stocking box will be a size guide. Even though you may be tempted to skim over this size guide and ignore it, it will help you make sure that the stockings are tight enough to do their job without being too tight that they are constricting.
If you have veins across your feet, then you should consider getting regular compression stockings that cover your legs and entire foot. Whereas if your veins are only prevalent on your legs, you can purchase a footless stocking.
