If you have been hiding your shorts, skirts, and swimsuits away just hoping that your varicose veins will fade on their own, that probably won’t happen. Although non-invasive treatments like compression stockings and even exercise can help patients with varicose veins, they aren’t the cure-all. One of the most popular treatments that we offer patients here at Texas Vein & Wellness is called sclerotherapy.
Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure that involves injecting the varicose veins with a saline solution. Once the saline has been injected, it will slowly cause the veins to collapse and then become naturally absorbed by the body. Because this treatment does take several months for patients to see full results, we encourage patients to plan ahead of time. By getting sclerotherapy done in the winter, you know that your legs will be ready to show off come summer. Whereas if you wait until spring to get sclerotherapy, you may or may not be ready to show off your legs.
Additionally, many patients require several treatments (about 2-4 on average) until their veins have completely gone away. By planning this far ahead of summer, we should be able to treat your veins with several sessions before the warm weather hits.
